Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane has revealed the best footballer he has ever played with and he had some very high praise for them.
Zidane is often regarded as one of the greatest midfielders ever, with numerous accolades including the Ballon d’Or. Not only was he an exceptional player, but he’s also distinguished himself as a top manager, recently guiding Real Madrid to three Champions League titles and two La Liga trophies.
Despite his own remarkable career, Zidane has named Ronaldo as the standout player he has ever played with. Zidane played alongside the Brazilian superstar at Real Madrid during the Galacticos era.
In an interview with Goal, via Bleacher Report, Zidane praised Ronaldo, stating, “I’ve always seen Ronaldo as the best because I played and trained with him. He is probably the best teammate I’ve ever had. His control over the ball was unparalleled, and he had no noticeable weaknesses.”
Zidane continued, “When Ronaldo decided to showcase his skills, he could do anything he wanted. Technically, no player has impressed me more. There was no system or tactics that could contain him. He was exceptional in his speed and skill.”
Between 2002 and 2006, Zidane and Ronaldo played 140 matches together and scored a combined total of 31 goals.
Zidane also had the opportunity to play with other football legends such as Luis Figo, Raul, and David Beckham, so his strong endorsement of Ronaldo is particularly noteworthy.
Ronaldo is undeniably one of the greatest forwards in football history, having scored 295 goals in 453 club appearances for teams like Madrid, AC Milan, and Barcelona.
On the international stage, Ronaldo is considered one of Brazil’s top players, with 62 goals in 99 matches and two World Cup victories in 1994 and 2002.
