Real Madrid are said to be edging ever closer to completing yet another world-class signing.
Carlo Ancelotti’s squad made notable additions this summer, including Endrick and Kylian Mbappe, as they continue their pursuit of European and global dominance. Having won La Liga and the UEFA Champions League last season, Real Madrid aims for even greater achievements as the new campaign begins.
With stars like Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, and Vinicius Jr. also in the mix, it’s challenging to see how Real Madrid could be stopped this season. Reports suggest that their defense might see a significant upgrade with a new signing.
Diario AS indicates that Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies is expected to join Real Madrid in January under a pre-contract agreement. Davies will officially become a Real Madrid player in the summer of 2025 for the 2025/26 season. Although Real Madrid tried to secure Davies this summer, Bayern’s asking price was too high. Davies, who has long been a target for the Spanish club, will now bolster the squad, adding competition for Ferland Mendy.
Bayern Munich’s sporting director Max Eberl has previously been vocal about Alphonso Davies’ contract situation at the club. In 2023, Eberl told Sport Bild that significant offers had been presented to the Canadian defender.
He noted, “The negotiations have been ongoing for some time but stalled last summer. We are addressing the matter.” Eberl added, “We made Alphonso a very concrete and generous offer. At some point, you have to make a decision.”
Davies, who joined Bayern Munich from Vancouver Whitecaps in 2018, has since won the UEFA Champions League in 2020 and five Bundesliga titles.
