Liverpool remain interested in potential world class transfer

Liverpool is still interested in Real Sociedad’s midfielder Martin Zubimendi, as reported by Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel. The Spanish international is highly regarded, and Reds manager Arne Slot, along with the club’s board, appreciates his talent, though they acknowledge that no immediate move is likely.

Zubimendi declined a transfer to Liverpool in the summer, but the club seems to be faring well, especially with Ryan Gravenberch stepping up under Slot’s management. While Zubimendi remains an attractive option for many top clubs, Liverpool can monitor him without feeling the need to pursue a deal urgently.

Considering Liverpool’s significant midfield investments over the past year—bringing in Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Gravenberch—it’s worth questioning whether they truly need another midfielder. Gravenberch, in particular, has been impressive and is still developing.

Zubimendi might also find that regular playing time at Anfield could be a challenge. Furthermore, Liverpool has pressing concerns, as key players like Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk will be out of contract next summer, making defensive and attacking reinforcements more urgent than adding another midfielder.
