Liverpool fans say the same thing about Federico Chiesa just minutes into his first start for the club

Liverpool fans were already saying the same thing about Federico Chiesa just minutes into his first start at Anfield.

Federico Chiesa signed with Liverpool from Juventus for an initial £10 million, but his playing time was limited early in the season. Manager Arne Slot recently stated that the Italian winger wasn’t yet fit to play a full 90 minutes due to minimal game time in the past five months. However, he started in Liverpool’s Carabao Cup match against West Ham. After falling behind 1-0 due to a Jarell Quansah own goal, Liverpool equalized in the 27th minute, with Chiesa providing the assist for Diogo Jota.

Even before his first start, Liverpool fans were already optimistic about Chiesa, despite him barely touching the ball. One fan remarked, “I’ve never seen a player so happy and excited to play for us as Chiesa. That passion is incredible.” Another noted, “Chiesa hasn’t stopped smiling since joining Liverpool.” A third joked, “Chiesa is running around like rent is due tomorrow—love it!” A fourth added, “The challenge of making Chiesa stop smiling? Impossible.”

The 26-year-old had a near chance to score his first goal late in the first half but shot over the bar. He made his Anfield debut as a substitute in the 3-0 win against Bournemouth, where he played seven minutes. After the match, he shared with Liverpool’s official website, “Hearing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ for the first time from the bench was amazing.

It was incredible against Nottingham Forest too, even though we lost. Today was truly special. I enjoyed every moment. I just had to be ready to play, and when the coach called me in, I was so happy and relieved to be on the pitch at Anfield.”
