Manchester United and Arsenal are both in the hunt for a top-notch striker. While they have skilled forwards like Marcus Rashford, Gabriel Jesus, Joshua Zirkzee, and Kai Havertz, none have consistently scored 30 goals a season.
United is keen to find a striker who can reach that elite level, but Arsenal currently has an advantage in attracting top players.
**Manchester United’s Interest in Benjamin Sesko**
According to Give Me Sport, Manchester United is interested in Slovenian forward Benjamin Sesko, who scored 18 goals in 42 appearances for RB Leipzig last season. The recruitment team at United is reportedly impressed with the 21-year-old, with some teammates even claiming he is “better” than Erling Haaland.
However, despite United’s interest, Sesko reportedly prefers Arsenal. He almost joined the Gunners last summer, as they were his favored choice to leave Leipzig. It’s suggested that he may leave the Bundesliga in summer 2025, so United will have to work hard to convince him to choose Old Trafford over North London.
**Arsenal’s Missed Chance Last Summer**
Arsenal had an opportunity to sign Sesko last summer for £55 million due to a release clause in his contract. This clause has now expired, and his market value has jumped to £96.3 million, according to the CIES Football Observatory.
While this figure doesn’t necessarily reflect Leipzig’s asking price, it underscores the rapid increase in Sesko’s value after an impressive 2024 season.
**Possible Exit of Gabriel Jesus**
There were rumors over the summer that Arsenal might sell Gabriel Jesus for the right price, but he ultimately stayed at the Emirates, while Eddie Nketiah moved to Crystal Palace. Arsenal remains linked with Sesko, and if a deal occurs in 2025, it’s believed that Jesus would be sold to make room for the Slovenian forward.
This season, Jesus has faced additional injury challenges and has yet to start a Premier League match, making a departure from North London in 2025 seem more likely.
