Mikel Arteta responds to Pep Guardiola as Man City boss ‘declares war’ on Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has responded to Pep Guardiola after the Manchester City boss gave a fiery press conference about Arsenal.

The two teams ended in a 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium last Sunday, with the match featuring several controversial incidents.

Arsenal’s tactics faced scrutiny, especially after they were down to 10 players due to Leandro Trossard’s red card, leading to criticism of their strategy.

City midfielder Bernardo Silva remarked post-match that only one team came to play football, despite Arsenal leading 2-1 at halftime.

In response to Silva’s comments during his pre-Leicester press conference, Arteta said, “No comment. I’ve been there before. I was there for four years—I have all the information. So I know. Believe me.”

Guardiola took issue with Arteta’s remarks, stating in his own press conference ahead of City’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle: “Next time, Mikel should clarify what he means by having been here four years and knowing what happens. It could relate to the ongoing charges or that information.”

Guardiola added that he values his relationship with Arteta and hopes he can clarify his comments.

After Arsenal’s 4-2 victory over Leicester, Arteta had another chance to respond, saying, “When I say I know things about Man City, I mean I understand how hard they work. I want to be clear—I love Pep, I admire him, and I have deep respect for everything he does for me. I consider him a friend.”
