Spanish legend explains why Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal is better than Vinicius Jr.

Marcos Senna, a prominent figure in Spanish football, has shared his admiration for Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal, stating he holds Yamal in higher esteem than Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr.

Senna noted that while both players possess impressive skills, Yamal’s exceptional speed particularly stands out to him. He compared this to his long-standing preference for Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo, emphasizing Messi’s pace and game influence.

He believes this same quality makes Yamal a unique talent, appreciating his dynamic presence and versatility in passing, which distinguishes him from many players. “They are both great players, but I prefer Lamine. The reason is his pace,” Senna remarked, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

Senna acknowledged Vinicius as a great player but argued that Yamal’s overall performance is more consistently impressive. While he recognized Vinicius’s ability to deliver remarkable assists, like one to Rodrygo against Espanyol, he feels Yamal excels in one-on-one situations and execution. “If he had Vinicius’s speed, he would be the perfect dribbler,” he explained.

In addition, Senna reflected on Andres Iniesta’s imminent retirement, expressing regret that Iniesta has never won a Ballon d’Or, particularly the one in 2010. “Andres should have won at least one Ballon d’Or. He is a global reference, not just a Spanish one. His time has come. He is a player who should never stop playing—always amazing as both a player and a person,” he concluded.
