Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool is uncertain, with Real Madrid reportedly showing strong interest in the right-back. His current contract expires next summer, but there have been no updates on a new deal.
This unusual situation has raised concerns among fans and analysts, including former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, who worries that prolonged negotiations could indicate Alexander-Arnold might not stay at Anfield.
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano recently commented on the contract situation, stating there have been no major developments. While Real Madrid continues to monitor the situation, they are not currently negotiating with the player. Romano noted that the responsibility lies with Liverpool, as they are actively in communication with Alexander-Arnold.
On his YouTube channel, Romano said: “Since March, the situation has not changed. Real Madrid remains interested, but they are not negotiating terms or contracts with Alexander-Arnold. We’re not in advanced discussions, but their interest has been consistent for months.”
He added, “What happens this summer depends on Liverpool, as they have the priority and are in talks with Alexander-Arnold. We’ll see what they decide together.”
Liverpool cannot afford to lose Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is considered one of the best right-backs globally.
The 25-year-old has made 318 appearances for the club, scoring 19 goals and providing an impressive 83 assists. Recently, he expressed a desire to remain with Liverpool beyond this season, noting that the final decision lies with the club’s management.
Fans are eagerly awaiting announcements regarding contract extensions for Alexander-Arnold, along with those for Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
