Upon the confirmation of the devastating announcement regarding Dominik Szoboszlai, fans and players from all around the world fell into a state of stunned silence today.

Doubts appearing around 2023 Liverpool signing as Reds keen on England international

Doubt is beginning to surround Dominik Szoboszlai at Liverpool, as the club reportedly shows interest in signing Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze to potentially take over the 23-year-old’s position.

Szoboszlai joined Anfield last summer for £60 million from RB Leipzig, but despite his considerable talent, he has not met expectations in Liverpool thus far.

While he began his tenure with promise, his influence waned during the 2023/24 season, contributing only three goals and two assists in 33 Premier League matches.

In contrast, Harvey Elliott was more productive in Liverpool’s final three games, recording three assists, highlighting Szoboszlai’s limited impact.

Although Szoboszlai has shown some improvement under Arne Slot, his final product remains a concern, with the former Leipzig player often being ineffective in critical attacking moments.

Recent reports suggest growing uncertainty at Liverpool regarding his ability to be a top creative force, prompting interest in Eze as a potential alternative.

Is Dominik Szoboszlai’s future at Liverpool in jeopardy? According to Football Insider, the club views Eberechi Eze as a superior creative option, as they have been unimpressed with Szoboszlai’s output.

So far this season, only two of Liverpool’s 23 goals have come from midfield, an area Arne Slot aims to enhance. Eze demonstrated his capabilities last season, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists in 27 Premier League appearances.

Although Crystal Palace has had a rough start this term, Eze has still managed 383 touches, created 12 open-play chances, and won 14 fouls.

Szoboszlai trails Eze closely in chances created with 11, but he falls short in nearly every other attacking metric, despite playing for a more successful team.

Eze would be a valuable addition to any of the Premier League’s “Big Six” clubs, and signing him in 2025 could significantly boost Liverpool’s creative output.
