Barcelona’s Lewandowski Stance Hinders Haaland Pursuit, Adeyemi Emerges as Alternative

Barcelona’s pursuit of Erling Haaland from Manchester City has been hindered by the presence of Robert Lewandowski. The Polish forward, who joined Barcelona last summer, is under a lucrative contract that extends until 2026, making a departure unlikely in the near term.

Lewandowski’s substantial salary takes up a significant part of Barcelona’s payroll, complicating the possibility of affording Haaland’s transfer and wages. Although Barcelona is open to offering Haaland a higher salary than he currently receives at City, they would need to offload other players to create the necessary funds.

With Haaland appearing unattainable for now, Barcelona is exploring alternative striker options. One potential target is Jonathan David from Lille, whose contract expires at the end of the season. They are also keeping an eye on Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig but face competition from Arsenal and Manchester United for his signature.

At the same time, Manchester City is looking to add a new striker and has been linked with Karim Adeyemi of Borussia Dortmund. The 22-year-old is a versatile player who can operate as a forward or on the wings. Dortmund is known for being willing to sell top players for the right price, and City may be ready to make a substantial offer for Adeyemi.

Although Adeyemi is currently committed to Dortmund and has no immediate plans to leave, his situation could change if an interest from a club like City or Liverpool arises.
