After Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over Southampton, top scorer Kai Havertz sustained a knee injury, which is concerning. “Knee issues” have prevented him from participating in Germany’s two matches during the October international break.
So far this season, the 25-year-old has performed exceptionally well. On Saturday, he netted Arsenal’s sixth goal in ten matches, helping the team recover from an early deficit. Although Cameron Archer initially put Southampton ahead at the Emirates, Havertz equalized for the Gunners, followed by goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka to secure the win.
Unfortunately, Havertz’s knee injury means he will miss Germany’s upcoming National League matches against the Netherlands and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Before facing the Netherlands next Monday, coach Julian Nagelsmann will travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday.
The German Football Federation confirmed that Havertz will not participate in the international games due to his knee issues, prompting Nagelsmann to select Jonathan Burkardt as his replacement. Wishing Havertz a speedy recovery and hoping to see Burkardt shine!
Since taking on the role of Arsenal’s first-choice No. 9 six months ago, Havertz has been a key player for the team, receiving significant praise from Arteta in his post-match press conference.
In his last 24 matches for Arsenal, the forward has netted 15 goals and provided six assists. Arteta noted, “You can see his confidence has grown because he drives forward with the ball.” When he possesses the ball in the box, he appears to be in high gear, ready to press.
“He’s an attacking midfielder playing as a striker. That’s how clever he is on the pitch; you can never tell where he’ll be.” His current mindset is focused on winning the game, which is a notable shift.
