Chelsea superstar picks Barcelona legend as his all-time favourite – ‘Wanted to be like him’

Chelsea Superstar Cole Palmer Picks Barcelona Legend Messi as His All-Time Favorite: “Wanted to Be Like Him”

In a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea’s rising star and September’s Premier League Player of the Month, Cole Palmer, was asked about the enduring debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Without hesitation, Palmer expressed his admiration for Messi, stating, “For me, Lionel Messi.”

He went on to reveal that Messi was his childhood idol, saying, “I wanted to be Lionel Messi when I was a child.” This underscores the significant impact the Argentine legend still has on young players, despite no longer playing in Europe.

Although Messi now plays for Inter Miami in MLS alongside former Barcelona teammates Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, his legacy at Barcelona remains unparalleled. His World Cup victory with Argentina has further cemented his status as one of the greatest players of all time.

Barcelona is set to invite Messi to celebrate the club’s 125th anniversary next month. It’s uncertain if he will attend in person, but if he can’t, Messi is expected to send a special message to the club he devoted much of his career to.

Messi’s influence on football spans generations, inspiring even the latest stars, like Palmer, who look up to his legendary career.
