Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has implemented ten significant new rules since taking over from Xavi.
The German coach, who has had a strong start at the club, has retained some of Xavi’s rules while introducing additional ones, as reported by AS. Here are the new guidelines for the team:
1. **Punctuality**: Flick emphasizes the importance of being on time. Players must arrive at the Ciutat Esportiva by 9:30 AM for breakfast, with training starting 90 minutes later.
2. **Daily Weigh-ins**: Players are required to weigh in every day before training, a practice previously used by Luis Enrique, and it has been running smoothly.
3. **Canteen Dining**: All players must eat at the Ciutat Esportiva canteen, where meals are prepared by the team’s nutritionist, Silvia Tremoleda, with no exceptions allowed.
4. **Match Day Warm-ups**: A warm-up session on match days has been reinstated, as Flick believes it is essential for performance.
5. **Hotel Meetings on Match Day**: Players must meet at the team hotel on match days, even for home games, to avoid any last-minute issues.
6. **No Late Night Flights**: Flick has changed travel policies, opting to stay overnight after away games that kick off at 9 PM or later, to ensure players can rest.
7. **Intense Training**: Training sessions are demanding, with intensity being a key focus, and players’ performance is monitored using GPS data.
8. **No Fines**: The use of fines and motivational challenges has been abolished; Flick trusts his players to act professionally.
9. **Limited Holidays**: Players will have few days off, usually just one a week, with some flexibility during international breaks.
10. **Professional Relationships**: Flick fosters a professional environment based on respect and commitment, making himself available for discussions while expecting players to be self-aware.
