Former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has confessed that he always felt intimidated when facing Lionel Messi.
At 34, Szczesny briefly retired this summer, but an unexpected opportunity arose when Barcelonaβs Marc-Andre ter Stegen suffered a season-ending knee injury. Seizing the chance, Szczesny, who had spent the last seven years at Juventus, came out of retirement to join the Catalan club earlier this month.
Szczesny began his professional career at Arsenal, where he played for nine years and won two FA Cups. He also had a two-year loan at Roma, where his impressive performances led Juventus to see him as the long-term successor to the legendary Gianluigi Buffon.
