**SPORTGLITZ: BARCELONA – The Only Injured Barça Player Without a Tentative Return Date**

Andreas Christensen is slowly recovering from tendinopathy in his left leg. After playing just 26 minutes in FC Barcelona’s LaLiga debut against Valencia, he was sidelined, and currently, there’s no tentative return date. The club announced in late August that his injury would be long-term, allowing them to release 80% of their deposit to register Dani Olmo.

Since then, Barcelona has provided limited updates on the defender, who has been training individually to address his left Achilles tendon issues, which plagued him for much of last season. Although he played through pain early in 2024, Christensen represented Denmark in the Euro Cup and participated in Barcelona’s preseason.

Barcelona aims to have Christensen back at his best by 2025. However, as the 2024/25 season began, medical staff advised him to rest to prevent further complications, which ultimately occurred. While he hasn’t needed surgery, uncertainty surrounds his recovery, and it seems unlikely he will return this year. Initially, he was expected to be out for two months.

For Hansi Flick, Christensen could be a valuable asset in the latter half of the season, capable of filling both central and defensive pivot roles as needed. He is also seen as a potential asset in future transfer windows, although his injuries will likely prevent any movement in January.

By summer, the situation may look very different depending on how many minutes he accumulates towards the end of the season. Since joining Barcelona in 2022 on a free transfer from Chelsea, Christensen has played 75 official matches, totaling 5,150 minutes, scoring 4 goals and providing 3 assists. While he hasn’t been a guaranteed starter, he has consistently performed well when called upon.
