Marcos Senna, a prominent figure in Spanish football, has praised Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal, stating he regards Yamal more highly than Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr.
Senna noted that both players have exceptional talent, but he is particularly impressed by Yamal’s remarkable speed. He mentioned his past preference for Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo, citing Messi’s pace and impact on the game.
According to Senna, Yamal shares these qualities, making him a standout player. He admires Yamal’s dynamic play and versatility in passing, which differentiates him from many others. “They are both excellent players, but I prefer Lamine because of his speed,” Senna said, as reported by Mundo Deportivo. He explained that Messi’s presence and diverse passing also influenced his preference.
While acknowledging Vinicius as a talented player—pointing out a stunning assist he made to Rodrygo against Espanyol—Senna emphasized that Yamal consistently delivers a more impressive performance. “Vinicius can make incredible passes, like the one to Rodrygo, but Lamine performs better overall. If he had Vinicius’s speed, he would be the ideal dribbler,” Senna remarked.
Additionally, Senna reflected on Andres Iniesta’s upcoming retirement, expressing regret that Iniesta never won a Ballon d’Or, especially the one in 2010. “Andres should have at least one Ballon d’Or. He is a global icon, not just a Spanish one. His time has come; he is a player who should never stop playing. He has always been outstanding, both on and off the field,” he concluded.
