BREAKING NEWS: Manchester United has announced Very SAD NEWS for Matthijs de Ligt head injury

Erik ten Hag stated that Manchester United used the contentious circumstances surrounding Ethan Pinnock’s goal as motivation for their comeback victory against Brentford. Pinnock’s header from a corner during first-half stoppage time came right after Matthijs de Ligt was forced off the field for a head injury evaluation.

De Ligt was instructed to leave for medical checks twice, despite only having dried blood on his head. Referee Sam Barrott insisted on his exit just before the corner, a decision that both Ten Hag and assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy vehemently protested, leading to their punishment. Ten Hag argued that the decision was unfair.

“It was just dried blood, and Matthijs had already been treated,” Ten Hag explained. “Nobody understood why he had to leave. I spoke to him, and he said, ‘It’s just dried blood; I don’t know why I was sent off.’ It was a critical moment because Brentford is strong on set pieces, and conceding like that was frustrating.”

Ten Hag suggested that the perceived injustice may have fueled the team’s resolve in the second half. Alejandro Garnacho quickly equalized after the break, followed by Rasmus Hojlund scoring the winning goal in the 62nd minute, lifting United to eighth place in the Premier League.

This victory marked a turning point for a side that had struggled recently, going 317 minutes without a league goal. Despite this dry spell, Ten Hag emphasized that the real issue has been finishing chances rather than creating them.

Hojlund, returning from a hamstring injury suffered during pre-season, has begun to regain form, scoring in two of his three starts since coming back. His contributions are a much-needed boost for United as they seek to improve their league standing after a challenging start.

The win against Brentford not only secured three crucial points but also lifted team morale. The players channeled their frustration from the controversial goal into a determined performance, ultimately turning the match in their favor.
