Liverpool has been informed that one of their star players is ‘already’ set to leave the club, following their 1-0 Champions League victory over RB Leipzig.
Darwin Nunez scored the only goal of the match, while Caoimhin Kelleher made several crucial saves. Under Arne Slot’s management, Liverpool has won 11 of their last 12 games, currently sitting second in their Champions League group with a perfect nine points.
Although not an immediate concern, Slot may face challenges regarding the contracts of key players like Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk, all of whom are out of contract next summer and have yet to sign new deals.
On Sky Sports’ Soccer Special, former managers Tim Sherwood discussed Alexander-Arnold’s situation, suggesting that his future may already be decided. He stated, “These are top players who want to win trophies, not just compete for Champions League spots. This strong start will help keep them, but I think Trent is gone if Real Madrid comes calling.”
Sherwood also noted that the circumstances for Van Dijk and Salah might differ, as he believes it’s unclear where they would find a better opportunity than at Liverpool.
Liverpool’s next match is against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.
