Nuno Tavares is thrilled to have left Arsenal, feeling at home and enjoying his new role as Lazio’s “King of Assists.” The 24-year-old left-back, who spent much of his Arsenal tenure on loan, is rejuvenated in Italy after several stints away from North London.
Tavares joined Arsenal from Benfica in 2021 for £7 million, but his time under Mikel Arteta was limited, resulting in just 28 appearances over three years. Despite showing early potential, he struggled to establish a regular place in the team, which led to multiple loan moves.
Tavares’ first significant loan occurred in the 2022/23 season when he made 39 appearances for Marseille, gaining valuable experience under Igor Tudor. The next season, he joined Nottingham Forest, but a permanent return to Arsenal seemed unlikely.
Now flourishing at Lazio, Tavares has shared his joy and relief at being with a club where he feels genuinely valued, earning praise for his contributions on the field as a playmaker.
