Carles Puyol asks Flick to expel the Barcelona star

Barcelona has successfully hired German coach Hansi Flick to replace Spanish coach Xavi Hernandez. Flick aims to restore Barcelona to prominence after a challenging season.

He plans a thorough overhaul of the team before the season begins, addressing departures and necessary new signings, especially in light of the club’s financial difficulties.

Barcelona legend Carles Puyol has advised Flick to address what he sees as a major weakness: German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Following a heavy defeat to Monaco in the Joan Gamper Cup, Puyol suggested that Flick should consider letting Stegen go due to his poor technical performance and frequent mistakes. Puyol believes that Stegen’s departure could be crucial for Barcelona’s success, as his errors have cost the team important titles in recent years.

Puyol stated that Ter Stegen is a significant weakness for Barcelona, failing to perform in crucial moments when the team needs him. He noted in an interview with Radio Catalina that Ter Stegen concedes unusual goals that undermine the team’s efforts and is rarely effective in decisive matches. Puyol advised that if Flick wants to succeed with Barcelona, he should consider removing Stegen from the squad, as his performance has contributed to the team losing several titles in recent years.
