Liverpool star ‘to leave’ club next summer as journalist drops transfer bombshell

According to top journalist James Pearce, Liverpool are expected to see a key player leave the club next year. Despite a relatively quiet start, Liverpool was active at the end of the summer transfer window, securing deals for Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili and Federico Chiesa before the deadline.

Several significant players, including Fabio Carvalho, Thiago Alcantara, and Joel Matip, departed Liverpool over the summer. Now, it is reported that goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is likely to leave Anfield next summer.

On the Walk On podcast, Pearce noted, “Kelleher is a Premier League-quality goalkeeper, so it’s surprising there wasn’t more competition for his signature. For Liverpool, it made sense to keep him rather than sell him for £7 million and a backup keeper they didn’t want.”

With Mamardashvili set to rejoin Liverpool after being loaned back to Valencia, it seems logical that Kelleher might depart next summer. Several clubs, including Nottingham Forest, had shown interest and made a bid involving £7 million plus American goalkeeper Matt Turner, which was ultimately rejected.

It seems that the 25-year-old Caoimhin Kelleher would be open to a move, as he expressed his desire for a starting role while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland. In a press conference on Tuesday, Kelleher stated, “I’ve made it clear over the past few years that I want to be a number one goalkeeper somewhere. With Liverpool bringing in Mamardashvili, it seems they’ve chosen a different path.”

Kelleher added, “Liverpool have turned down several offers as well. I can’t always control the situation completely. My ambition is straightforward: I believe I’m good enough and want to play regularly every week.”
