Liverpool player agrees partnership deal with Red Bull just days after Jurgen Klopp appointment

Red Bull have struck an agreement with one of Liverpool’s first-team players, just a day after the energy drink company announced Jurgen Klopp as their new global head of soccer.

Starting January 1st, Klopp will manage Red Bull’s global network of football clubs, which includes RB Leipzig, New York Red Bulls, and Red Bull Salzburg. He is expected to enhance the organization’s worldwide scouting efforts and assist in the training and development of coaches.

After nearly 25 years on the sidelines, Klopp expressed his excitement for this new venture, stating, “While my role has changed, my passion for football and the people who make it special remains the same.”

Following this announcement, Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai confirmed a partnership with Red Bull. Szoboszlai, who transferred from RB Leipzig to Liverpool last summer, appeared in an announcement video on Instagram alongside the Red Bull team.

The video also featured PSG midfielder Xavi Simons, currently on loan at Leipzig, welcoming Szoboszlai to the “Red Bull family” via FaceTime.

Since joining Liverpool, Szoboszlai has secured three significant brand partnerships, including collaborations with McDonald’s and Telekom.

He’s not the first Liverpool player to team up with the Austrian energy drink brand; in 2019, Trent Alexander-Arnold hinted at “big things” ahead after joining the Red Bull family.

Earlier this week, Szoboszlai expressed his determination to fulfill a childhood dream with Liverpool.

“I want to win the Champions League,” said the 23-year-old, as reported by The Mirror. “As a kid, I dreamed of hearing the anthem on the pitch, then scoring. I wanted to represent my national team and become captain, and I’ve achieved all of that.”

He continued, “Now that I’m in the Premier League, I certainly want to win the Premier League with Liverpool, along with the Champions League. I have big ambitions, but I also set realistic goals for myself.”
