Liverpool suffer huge blow as key transfer target tells club he has ‘no interest’ in making move

One of Liverpool’s ‘transfer targets’ has no interest in joining the club, according to reports.

Liverpool currently leads the Premier League, with new manager Arne Slot experiencing a strong start.

However, one challenge he has faced is securing key transfers.

Despite signing Federico Chiesa, who is still adapting to life in England, and Giorgi Mamardashvili, who was loaned back to Valencia, the Reds have struggled in the transfer market.

Their pursuit of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi was well-publicized, but he chose to remain in La Liga instead of moving to Merseyside.

Ryan Gravenberch has stepped into the defensive midfield role, winning over fans with his steady performances, but concerns about midfield depth persist.

Unfortunately for Liverpool supporters, journalist Matteo Moretto from Relevo reports that Aurélien Tchouaméni has “no interest” in joining the club, despite ongoing speculation about a move from Real Madrid.

It’s believed that Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti views Tchouaméni as an integral part of his plans as the team aims to defend their La Liga and Champions League titles this season. The French midfielder has appeared in eight of Los Blancos’ nine league matches this year.

His role is expected to become more significant next season as Luka Modric’s contract expires in June 2025.

Ancelotti praised Tchouaméni after Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Real Betis in September, stating, “Tchouaméni is a fantastic defensive midfielder. He is IRREPLACEABLE at a defensive level and greatly supports our defense.”

However, not everyone shares this enthusiasm. Reports from various Spanish media indicate that Tchouaméni has had a challenging start to the season, with Managing Madrid noting that “he is not showcasing his intelligence.”

They suggest that while some blame lies with Ancelotti, much of it falls on Tchouaméni himself. “His demeanor, lack of creativity in passing, and slowness in pressing, tackling, and tracking back reflect a different player than last season.”

Before the January transfer window, Liverpool is likely to be linked to multiple transfer targets, but Slot hopes Gravenberch can establish himself as a consistent option, reducing the need for a new ‘starter.’
